It has been rumored that Samsung smartphones will get new themes with the new Android L 5.0 Lollipop update.
This came after Toranji leaked images that showed that Samsung phones will add a theme support in its menu. See the photos here.
Techone3 reported that another set of images showed that "TouchWiz" themes are allegedly making its way on Samsung phones.
Technobuffalo citing HDblog said that there will be at least six different themes but it claimed that it cannot verify the legitimacy of the leaked photos.
It added that it is still unsure whether the new themes will accompany the new Android update. It's not yet even confirmed if Samsung will get the Android update, it noted. "Still, it would be a welcome change on Samsung smartphones, which don't allow you to tweak the colors or other aspects of the UI out of the box," to quote them.
However, when it revealed the names of the new themes, they were only five. The alleged new themes are in Italian names, Technobuffalo said citing Italian site HDblog. They are called "dolce," "classico," "naturale," "artiguanato," and "Samsung base." When translated to English, they are called "sweet," "classic," natural," and "handicraft," it noted.
The arrival of the new "TouchWiz" themes, Techone3 said, may possibly let users to change the interface's color schemes, app icons, backgrounds, and sound effects.
To date, Samsung has not yet confirmed these rumors but Techone3 noted that this alleged new move is the company's way to "attract" more buyers amid plummeting sales.
"The company would even add third-party developers for building new themes to generate some revenue. This strategy, if it turns out to be true, would overall give a tough competition to HTC's Sense Ui and Sony Xperia UI," it added.
Meanwhile, when Technobuffalo asked Samsung about these rumors, it said that it is "committed to relentless innovation and new products are always in development." However, the Korean electronics giant said that it does not have any information about the rumors and so cannot yet confirm the "TouchWiz" themes speculations.
To date, it is still unknown when the Samsung smartphones will get the Lollipop update but several rumors have suggest that it will arrive either late this year or early next year.
But Samsung, through a Twitter post dated October 21, hinted that the Galaxy Note 4 will probably get the Lollipop update. The photo showed a Galaxy Note 4 that has a wallpaper of three swirled lollipops. It had the caption, "Anyway you look at it, the #GALAXYNote4 Quad HD Super AMOLED display is pretty sweet. #NoteTheDifference."
The Android Soul earlier listed other Samsung phones that will likely get the update. The list includes Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, Samsung Galaxy Alpha, Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, Samsung Galaxy K Zoom, and Samsung Galaxy Ace Style.
