Verizon Moto X 2nd Generation users will now enjoy the newly released Android L 5.0 Lollipop.
The Verge reported on Monday that Verizon has already started the roll out of the Lollipop update on the Moto X so users will now just have to wait fore a few days to get the operating system.
In a statement released by Motorola, it was revealed that several changes and improvements may be noticed in the installation of the new Android update.
These changes include:
Material Design
Motorola said that the users will instantly see an improved look of the device. It will become more colorful. The fluid animations, themes, and even widgets will also get a new look.
Notifications
Changes in the format and behavior of notifications will also be noticeable. These changes, Motorola said, will enable users to be always on alert on the latest information. The notifications which can now be seen on the lock screen are arranged based on priorities. They are now arranged depending on their types and on the person who sent them.
The update will also enable users to manage the notifications easier as they can now just double-tap to open one and swipe left or right to delete one. Deleting several or all of it will also be easier with the clear-all notifications feature which can be found on the bottom part. Users can also prioritize notifications and secure them by making them private.
Interruptions
The release notes also discloses that users will also be able to customize the Interruptions. They can now choose which ones are priorities and which are not. They can select which of them to allow through the Downtime setting. With this, only selected Interruptions can be allowed on specified days.
Moto Display
Through the Contextual Computing Processor, relevant notifications will continue to appear even if the phone's display is off.
Moto Assist and Downtime
You can now be left undisturbed through the integration of the new Downtime feature in the Moto Assist.
Flashlight
The Lollipop update also gives the new flashlight option to its users. You can see it through the Quick settings which can be checked by swiping down with two fingers from the status bar.
Multiple user accounts
Users can now set up multiple accounts on their Moto X. Other users can access the device through Guest mode but you can also customize it giving other users calling or texting privileges or restricting them from other applications or services.
Battery
Users can now take a peek of what's left of their batteries and how much time it needs to recharge. They can also activate a new battery saver mode which will extend battery life by reducing the phone's performance and background data operations.
In its blog, Motorola announced that other Motorola devices will also get the Lollipop update. The list includes Moto G 2nd Generation, DROID Turbo, Moto X First Generation, Moto G First Generation, Moto G with 4G LTE, DROID Ultra DROID Maxx, DROID Mini, and Moto E.
