Could a Grand Theft Auto 5 release date be on the way? Rockstar will be holding an annual shareholder meeting on September 20, and there's a slight chance the developer may decide to finally give gamers and shareholders what they want: a release date for the anticipated Grand Theft Auto 5.
Parent company of Rockstar games, Grand Theft Auto's developer, and 2K Games, Take-Two Interactive will hold the meeting on September 20 and offer a live webcast. The company is expected to talk about the upcoming fiscal year, but expect it to talk about upcoming projects.
And hopefully, Grand Theft Auto 5 will be a topic of discussion.
"We speculate that Take-Two will use the venue as an opportunity to announce the release window of the upcoming game, which has seen the release of numerous screenshots in recent weeks after a long, dry spell of basically nothing since Rockstar Games put out the game's teaser trailer this time last year," states website GameRanx.
Don't get your hopes up though. Rockstar has stated how secrecy is a key ingredient in building up to the game, and so far the company has done a good job of keeping everyone waiting. It's still not too much, though, to think that they will finally give a calendar date for everyone to mark.
Grand Theft Auto 5 will take place in the fictional city of Los Santos, based off Los Angeles, which Rockstar promises will be a massive sandbox for players to explore. Screenshots released by Rockstar indicate that planes will be making a return, and multiplayer is expected to be a larger, more integrated part of the next Grand Theft Auto installment.
