A new video featuring groups in 50 cities throughout Michigan singing along to Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City's "Good Time" has gone viral on YouTube this week. The video, called "The Pure Michigan Statewide Singalong," is among the top eight most popular videos on the video-sharing site and is close to reaching its one millionth view.

Rob Bliss and Jeff Barrett travelled to 50 cities throughout the state in just one week to film the entertaining singalong. Bliss spoke to Latinos Post and said the idea for the video was a "combination of ingredients."

"I had been aware of other, somewhat similar online videos like 'Where the hell is Matt' and 'Make it Count,' but also primarily the Grand Rapids LipDub Video, which I created in May 2011. I had always wanted to take the energy of that video and create something statewide, which led to the Statewide Singalong," Bliss said.

Bliss, who founded the digital advertising company Status Creative, said traveling to so many places in such a short amount of time took the help of a lot of people. When asked just how they managed to do it, Bliss responded, "Early mornings, late nights, and a fast car. We teamed up with the CVB's (Convention and Visitors Bureau) of all the different cities so that we didn't have to micromanage anything. We let them manage their own scenes (with some guidance) so that we could do it all in time."

Just four days after being published, the singalong reached close to 800,000 views on YouTube. When asked about his video's success, Bliss said, "Always a great thing to see people's positive reactions. Getting people to smile is something I love about my job."

The video, which was sponsored by Pure Michigan and Chrysler, is not the first video by Bliss and Barrett. The pair posted the 'Grand Rapids LipDub' in May of 2011 and reached over four million views. Bliss also dished on a new video his digital advertising company is working on with Moose Tracks Ice Cream. "We'll be working on another viral video soon," he said."To capture what it's like when kids eat ice cream for the first time." Bliss added, "Spoiler: it's really adorable."
