The final trailer for "The Hobbit 3: Battle of the Five Armies" has just been released this week, a month ahead of the film's December 17 release.
According to Forbes, the latest trailer was unnecessary except for the new website coverage that Warner Bros wanted to attach to Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" and Disney's "Big Hero 6".
However, the website notes that this will be the last trailer about Middle Earth that JRR Tolkien fans are going to get. After all, this will be the final film for Peter Jackson's six-part Middle earth saga (three "The Lord of the Rings" films and three "The Hobbit" films) which began thirteen years ago.
Jackson explained that in the film, "Everybody's where they need to be, there's no new characters, all cards are on the table."
Although "The Hobbit" series is not as impactful as "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, Sky News revealed that the three films cost about three-quarters of a billion dollars to make, which means that they are almost the most expensive films ever made. Almost, because the Guinness World Records estimated the most expensive to be "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" which cost over $300 million.
The final film welcomes with it cast members Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, and Benedict Cumberbatch as the dragon, Smaug, but it will also feature cast from "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy including Orlando Bloom and Ian McKellen, and quite possibly, Elijah Wood.
The official synopsis, as printed by Screen Crush read: "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town.
Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo's frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain.
As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide - unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.
