The absence of an official word from game developer Bethesda regarding the official release date of the post-apocalypse video game "Fallout 4" has been setting a lot of rumor mills in motion.

A recent post from the NeoGAF blogging site said that Bethesda filed for a trademark application with the German Patent and Trademark Office on October 27 for "Fallout: Shadow of Boston."

The filing reportedly has Bethesda Softworks as owner and the patent shall cover video games as well as auditioning for TV game shows.

However, "As it turns out, the German trademark filing for 'Fallout: Shadow of Boston' is fake," reports Gamespot.

This was also confirmed by Bethesda Softworks when it tweeted via @Bethblog: "The German trademark filing that's making the rounds is a hoax. This didn't come from our offices."

The supposed filing also had fans of the game speculating that the next place for the "Fallout" series will happen in Boston, Gamespot said.

iDigital Times reports that "Fallout: Shadow of Boston" has also been used before in a fake IMdB posting in the past.

The site also enthused that "Fallout 4" is a more exciting name than calling it "Fallout: Shadow of Boston" which is pretty lame and sounds more appropriate for a TV show.

There were speculations that a "Fallout" TV series is in the works but nothing official has come out of Bethesda. Everything so far are just rumors.

When Will "Fallout 4" Be Released?

Instead of giving update on "Fallout 4," Bethesda recently announce that it is cancelling "Prey 2."

"It's still unsure if the cancellation of 'Prey 2' will be good or bad news for 'Fallout 4,' but one thing is quite sure - Bethesda will have more time focusing on the later," opines Christian Today.

As to whether Bethesda is working hard for "Fallout 4" is another story, notes the report.

But if the consensus of the rumors swirling around is to be the basis, the latest instalment to the series may be released in October next year or sometime in early 2016, notes Breathecast in an October 11 report.

"Fallout 3" was released in 2008 and fans have long been clamoring for the latest addition to the video game series since then, cites Breathecast.

At this point in time, what Bethesda can confirm is that there will be a "Fallout 4" which it already trademarked with the European Union sometime late last year, which IGN mentioned in a November 18, 2013 report.

There is no official trailer yet for "Fallout 4," although fans have made their own versions and uploaded it to YouTube as early as last year.
