Robert Downey Jr. will be the busiest Hollywood actor for Marvel Studios until 2019. The same goes for Iron Man and his alter ego Tony Stark.
While Marvel has not officially unravelled an "Iron Man 4" film in its nine-movie plate from 2016 to 2019 disclosed last week, it is already confirmed that Iron Man will appear in three of those movies, notes Cinema Blend.
Counting the first three Iron Man movies and "The Avengers," Robert Downey Jr. has officially appeared in four past Marvel movies. All of them certified blockbusters.
"Iron Man 3" is in fact in the list of Top Five grossing films of all time, enabling it to join the prestigious The Billion Dollar Club, details Screen Rant in a year-ago report.
Interviewed by Brooke Anderson of Entertainment Tonight during the BAFTA Awards on October 30 and asked how many more movies he expects to do with Marvel. Without citing any numerical figure, Robert Downey Jr. gave an interesting reply, details Cinema Blend.
"You know, it may verge on double digits. But it will probably wind up being a little shy," RDJ said.
As early as last year, Downey has already confirmed his role, or that of Iron Man and Tony Stark, in the Avengers 2 and 3 sequels, noted Screen Rant in another report.
So how many more Marvel movies do we expect to see RDJ as Iron Man from 2015 to 2019?
Next year, Iron Man will resurface again to the big screen in the second Avengers movie titled "Avengers: Age of Ultron," due to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.
Basing on the Marvel lineup of 11 movies listed by Times Dispatch to be shown from 2015 to 2019, Iron Man will appear in the third Captain America movie titled "Captain America: Civil War," and the two-part Avengers 3 movie titled "Avengers: Infinity War Part 1," and "Avengers: Infinity War Part 2."
That puts a total of four more Iron Man appearance until 2019, thus totalling to eight.
However, there are reports that Marvel would also release another movie on "The Incredible Hulk" between 2015 and 2019 where Iron Man will have a cameo role, reports Cinema Blend.
That would give RDJ a total of nine Marvel movies as Iron Man.
But the counting still does not end there. Apparently, there is still an ongoing negotiation between Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel Studios for "Iron Man 4."
Coming Soon.net reported how RDJ disclosed to Ellen DeGeneres when he graced the October 7 episode of the show and hinted that he and Marvel are indeed in the middle of negotiations for "Iron Man 4."
Obviously there is no official casting or trailer for "Iron Man 4" just yet.
Putting the huge success of the Iron Man franchise in the big picture, it would not be surprising if Marvel studios put its marbles on Robert Downey Jr. even up to "Iron Man 10."
