Paul David Hewson, also known as Bono, has revealed why he keeps on wearing dark sunglasses.
According to Reuters, while being interviewed in one of the episodes of BBC's "The Graham Norton" show, Bono admitted, "This is a good place to explain to people that I've had glaucoma for the last 20 years. I have good treatments and I am going to be fine."
Health website webmd.com defined glaucoma as "a condition that causes damage to your eye's optic nerve." It also noted that the condition which is associated with a buildup of pressure inside the eye can get worse over time. In some cases, it may even lead to blindness. It can also be inherited and it may not show up until later in life, it was learned.
"You're not going to get this out of your head now and you will be saying 'Ah, poor old blind Bono'," he said in jest.
Reuters also cited a Rolling Stone magazine's interview with Bono in 2005. The report recalled that Bono had a different explanation when asked why he was wearing sunglasses. "If somebody takes my photograph, I will see the flash for the rest of the day. My right eye swells up. I've a blockage there, so that my eyes go red a lot. So it's part vanity, it's part privacy and part sensitivity," he was quoted as saying.
Sorry for the free music?
Meanwhile, thousands of iTunes users have complained about the automatic download of the band's latest album, "Songs of Innocence," saying that they did not want the album or that it took much of their storage space. Reports said that the download was automatically given for free to almost 500 million iTunes accounts.
Bono apologized for the supposed inconvenience, but he explained that they just wanted to do "something fresh but it seems some people don't believe in Father Christmas...All those people who were uninterested in U2 are now mad at U2. As far as we are concerned, it's an improvement," he said
