Elena Gilbert may be incredibly heartbroken when her boyfriend disappeared into another world, but Nina Dobrev is not exactly yearning to be in Ian Somerhalder's arms right now. In fact, the actress wants to stay as far away from him and his new love as possible.
According to the International Business Times, she is no longer comfortable working with Ian for another season of the Vampire Drama because of his new girlfriend, "Twilight" star Nikki Reed, who happens to be one of her former good friends.
The Inquisitr revealed that Nikki is always visiting her beau on the set of "The Vampire Diaries" and that does not sit well with Nina, which is a shame, considering the couple's amicable split in 2013.
However, Inquisitr said that Nina's disposition on the drama that could rival CW's series is understandable. Ian has been showing a lot of PDA with his new love. There may also be some awkwardness for Nikki's part, because she knows how deeply Ian and Nina connected during their time together, and her visits on set may be rooted on jealousy and insecurity with the former couple's characters still very much in love in the show.
It was rumored that Nina requested TVD writers to make changes to their work so that the ex-couple will not get as many scenes together as they used to, but this remains to be confirmed.
However, it seems that the writers have already arranged for the former couple to have as little love scenes as possible. After all, in the last episode, Nina's character, Elena, has been hypnotized to forget her relationship with Ian's Damon.
Another reason why Nina would want to quit on TVD is the fact that she's also doing a crossover in the spinoff series, "The Originals." Julie Plec, creator of the shows, said via E! Online, "Nina Dobrev will be visiting The Originals for a nice little storyline in our fifth episode which airs November 3."
IBT also said that there are talks of Elena to extend her time on "The Originals" but there have been no confirmation regarding that yet.
Celebrity Dirty Laundry however, assures TVD fans that as per contract, Nina will have to finish off the current season. There will be no assurance for next season however, considering that Nina has slowly been transitioning to a steady film career.
What do you think about the possibility of Nina quitting the show next season?
