If you're a Samsung Galaxy S3 owner in the United States and have been waiting for an Android Jelly Bean update, here's some good news for you: it should be rolling out through U.S. carriers by the end of the month.
A SamMobile article last week stated that, "The first Jelly Bean updates will roll out next week."
"The American Galaxy S III will get Jelly Bean by the end of this month," the article also added.International and unlocked Samsung Galaxy S3s will get the update first.
The reason that it will take U.S. carriers a while longer is because of the nature of Android development. Google releases an open-source Android update that manufacturers then tailor to their devices. After that, the upgrade needs to get approved and distributed by networks such as Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile.
A recently released Google report shows that in only 1.2 percent of devices accessing the Google Play Store recently were running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Most Android devices seem to be running the much-older Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Samsung will also be releasing the Galaxy Note 2 in October with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Some reports from around the web also indicates that Samsung is working on a Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S2 and even the Galaxy Note.
Website GSMArena has been previewing a Jelly Bean ROM on a Galaxy S3 if you are interested in reading about the new features.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will include a smoother interface as well as Google's own voice-assistant Google Now.
Stay tuned to LatinosPost for more information as the Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 becomes available to U.S. consumers.
