In light of the hit telenovela "Pablo Escobar: Patron del Mal," Telemundo has acquired the exclusive U.S. and Puerto Rican broadcasting rights to a feature length documentary on the world's most notorious drug trafficker.
The documentary "Pablo Escobar: Angel or Demon?" examines the altruistic and criminal sides of the infamous drug lord. While Escobar will always be known for strengthening the drug cartels and initiating a lengthy war against drugs, he was also a charitable person. He was known to have reconstructed an entire Colombian town in Medellin so that the people would stop living in a trash dump. That is just one of many altruistic actions from a man associated with over 5,000 deaths.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the documentary is Colombia's highest grossing documentary ever.
Director and producer Jorge Granier stated that he is "pleased to be partnering with NBC/Telemundo, who are the ideal partner to tell this story and bring it to American television audiences."
Viewers will also be able to catch the documentary on Telemundo's mobile, digital, and VOD platforms.
The novella "Pablo Escobar: Patron del Mal" has been a tremendous success in the US where is has averaged 1.8 million viewers. It can be viewed every weeknight at 10 PM on Telemundo.
