The eighth season of CBS hit sitcom 'The Big Bang Theory" is going to premiere in a few days, and the network has released a trailer revealing that Jim Parsons's character, Sheldon Cooper, is returning from his journey a changed man.
Well, as much change as you can expect from Sheldon, anyway.
And he still can't adjust as quickly as he should, as seen on the video, he panicked soon as he saw Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting's character change her appearance: Penny traded her long blonde locks for a pixie cut.
Last seen overwhelmed by the changes in his life and leaving Pasadena, it was revealed in an article by TV Line, by showrunner Steve Molaro that the first episode of the season, titled "The Junior Professor Solution," will pick up 45 days after Sheldon left, to less than ideal circumstances.
"His belongings have been stolen and he needs Leonard to come pick him up in Arizona," Molaro said. He also revealed that Sheldon is not going home to a happy girlfriend, saying, "Amy's not pissed at him for leaving, but she's certainly not thrilled that when he ran into trouble he called Leonard instead of her."
According to the International Business Times, Sheldon's big cross-country train trip is exactly that: a train trip. Apparently, he never stepped out of any of the railway stations, until he got robbed and had to go to the police station to file a complaint, anyway.
And Sheldon is not the only one who needs to adjust to change.
Penny and Leonard's relationship also changes as she puts her acting on hold to make more money, with Molaro saying that it "alters their dynamic because now she's actually doing well financially."
If that's not enough, Howard is also adjusting to having their friend, Stuart, be his Ma's permanent caretaker.
As for Raj, it seems that his love life is finally taking a turn. Molaro said to expect to see more of Laura Spencer (as Raj's girlfriend, Emily) as she will be returning to the show. He said, "We're going to explore more of her personality, and what she's really like."
Despite delays regarding the stars' contracts, in a very public dispute, the main stars - Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, and Johnny Galecki ultimately settled with the $1M per episode salary. This did not cause any delay in the premiere date, however, and the highly anticipated eighth season of "The Big Bang Theory" will go ahead with their September 22 airing.
The Monday timeslot, according to Yahoo! is set to make way for football, however, the series will be back in its usual Thursday airing beginning October 30.
