It's confirmed. Fans of the hit TV series, "The Wire," will be happy to know that the cast reunion they've been hoping for is happening -- just not in the manner expected.
In an interview with Shortlist.com, Dominic West, who played Jimmy McNulty in "The Wire," revealed that he has begun recording vocals for the upcoming "Finding Nemo 2", entitled "Finding Dory," which is set to be released in June 2016. What makes this bit of news more interesting is that Idris Elba, the actor who played Stringer Bell from the same series, is also joining the cast.
"I saw Idris recently. We're both in the sequel to 'Finding Nemo'," said West.
Could this be a reunion of sorts? Cinemablend suspects that subtle references to the show could be incorporated into "Finding Dory," through various Easter Eggs expected from the Pixar adventure. While what role exactly both actors will play remains a mystery, it could be assumed that if Idris and Dominic have been recording their voices together, they must appear on the same scene at some point in the film. All these is still speculation, of course.
Both actors have been super busy in the past months with their own careers. According to Cinema Blend, Idris' most notable performances of late include voicing another animated character, Shere Khan in Disney's "The Jungle Book," which is presently filming, while Dominic's include appearances in the "The Hour" and "Centurion."
"Finding Dory," which will be all about the characters search for her own family, sees the return of the original cast, including Ellen DeGeneres who is voicing Dory and Albert Brooks who plays Marlin. Entertainment Weekly, however, clarifies that the official log line to date still reads: "the plot of this movie, a sequel to 'Finding Nemo,' is unknown."
Some newcomers include Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy as Dory's parents and Ty Burell as a Beluga whale named Bailey. Cinemablend adds that Kaitlin Olson is also joining as Dory's adopted sister, who happens to be a killer whale. The story, the report added, will be set a year after the events that happened in "Finding Nemo" with scenes off the Californian coast. It is co-directed by Andrew Stanton and Angus MacLane.
