Are they or aren't they? This was one of the truths that Ryan Seacrest tried to get off Ariana Grande about her rumored romance with Big Sean during his interview with the breakout star of the summer.
The 21-year-old went on the "American Idol" host's radio show on August 27 to promote her "My Everything" album, but got a grilling enough for her to squirm in her seat.
Hollywood Life said the singer was asked about her relationship with the rapper because recently, backstage cameras at the MTV VMAs captured them holding hands after Grande received a Moonman. However, the "Probem" singer played coy when she gave an answer to Seacest.
"I mean, I guess, curiosity man, it'll kill you. I don't know what to say, Ryan. Why are you doing this me?" she told Seacrest.
But Seacrest most likely was given an answer, but off-air.
"I'll tell you when we're not on the air. I trust you. I've known you a long time. I don't know about these millions of people listening in right now," Grande added.
An unnamed source told E! News about Grande's closeness with Big Sean. The source said, "They have been friends since they made the song together. They have been spending more time together and recently have been getting very close. They are both doing great."
Bustle pointed out that although it was odd for Grande to keep things mum knowing the fact that she has a history of clearing up rumors that are not true, her non-answer might simply mean that she wanted her new relationship with Big Sean on the down low. Both parties have both come out from serious relationships; Grande with The Janoskians YouTube star, Jai Brooks, and Big Sean from his engagement with the already married "Glee" actress, Naya Rivera.
Big Sean, on the other hand, responded to the backstage moment at the VMAs with a sweet Instagram pic. The photo was of the singer's album cover, and added with a caption that read, "Ari's #1 in 80 countries! So great when good things happen to good people. I'm more than proud of you @arianagrande n grateful to be apart of it!"
A Hollywood Life source had put Grande and Big Sean's brewing romance into perspective and said, "[Their relationship's] getting to the point where they can't hide it anymore, they're falling in love and they don't like having to lie about it. They wanted to keep it a secret because they were worried it would take away from the music."
