You know that a celebrity is passionate about his causes when he jumps the bandwagon while consciously making decisions that will still benefit his charitable organizations.

According to HollywoodLife  last week, Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Affleck nominated actor Matt Damon for the viral ALS ice bucket challenge, and he took his own spin by raising awareness not only for the ALS Association, but for his pet organization, Water.org, as well.

The 43-year-old actor claimed not to want to waste clean water by having it dumped on his head, so instead, he opted to use toilet water for his challenge.

The seemingly normal video started off like everyone else - with Damon thanking his buddies for nominating him, apologizing for the delay, and stating that he will "pay the fine" as needed.

But then, unlike most videos, he did not just dump a bucket of freezing cold water on his person, he went on to explain that the challenge "posed kind of a problem for me, not only because there's a drought here in California, but also because I co-founded Water.org. Not everybody has access to a clean drink of water-there are about 800 million people in the world who don't, dumping a clean bucket of water over my head seemed a little crazy."

Truly. He also explained that Water.org strives "to bring adequate sanitation to the 2.4 billion people on planet earth who don't have it," explaining that it would be "a good thing to do to tie those things (ALSA and Water.org) together."

So the video then pans as Damon showed himself cupping toilet water from the bowl into a bucket with ice.

Damon said, "This is truly toilet water. I've been collecting it from various toilets around the house."

For those of you like my wife who think this is really disgusting, keep in mind that the water in our toilets in the West is actually cleaner than the water that most people in the developing world have access to," he added.

With his bucket full, he walked outside and said, "As disgusting as this may seem, hopefully it will highlight that this is a big problem, and together we can do something about it."

He also dedicated his challenge to the pals who nominated him as he splashed himself with icy cold toilet water.

Damon nominated three people to do the challenge: His "favorite actor," George Clooney, his "favorite musician," Bono; and "the greatest quarterback of all time," Tom Brady.
