The Emmy Awards is finally here and the best of the best in television will strut their stuff at the event on Monday evening, to be hosted by Seth Myers.
Now in its 66th year, the Primetime Emmy Awards will honor excellence on the small screen, with top nominations for "Breaking Bad," "True Detective" and "House of Cards" among others.
The biggest news, however, is that, yes, the Emmys will broadcast on a Monday instead of a Sunday as it usually does. This is because NBC does not want it to interfere with Sunday Night Football (of course).
After Hollywood was rocked by the recent death of actor/comedian Robin Williams, his friend Billy Crystal is expected to pay tribute to the actor. A performance by Sara Bareilles is also anticipated.
There are tough choices this year, with big names coming up in different categories.
In drama, "Game of Thrones" goes head-to-head against "Breaking Bad," "True Detective," "Downton Abbey," "House of Cards," and "Mad Men."
For Comedy, four-time Emmy winner "Modern Family" faces off with "The Big Bang Theory," "Veep," "Louie," and new series, "Silicon Valley" and "Orange is the New Black."
Here are the top 5 Emmy Highlights that you can look forward to in Monday's event, according to The Hawk:
1) Seth Myers as host
With critics watching his every move on stage, this may be the first and last time that the comedian will be able to host an event such as the Emmy Awards. Will the critics love him, or hate him? We will have to wait and see.
2) Robin Williams Tribute
With most of Hollywood (and the rest of the world) mourning the loss of one of the greats, it is safe to say that the Robin Williams tribute will give the audience more than its fair share of laughter and tears. We can probably count on a suicide prevention advocacy at the end as well.
3) The Possible End to the Modern Family Streak
The show has won Best Comedy four years in a row, but with the introduction of "Orange is the New Black" kicking some serious chops, would it be the end of the Modern Family streak?
4) Blake Shelton's (possible) first Emmy Win
Sure it's not unusual for Blake to be in awards shows - if it were the MTV Music Awards or the Grammys, why not? But for the first time, the country actor is nominated for an Emmy, and we can't wait to see if he wins this one.
5) The Red Carpet
Of course, as with any award show, the red carpet is the one to watch out for.
