The National Football League has announced the schedule for the kickoff event of the league's 95th season, which will happen on September 4.
The 60-minute pre-game show will be broadcast live from the Seattle Centurylink Field from 7:30 to 8:30 PM EST on both the NFL Network and NBC, writes NFL.com. It will also be available through Verizon via NFL Mobile. The news was revealed officially during the national broadcast of the yearly NFL-Hall of Fame Game on NBC, Sunday night.
This year's live pregame show, beyond kicking off the 2014 NFL season, will also recognize Seattle Seahawks' achievement as the reigning Super Bowl champion, NFL.com added. The team bested the Denver Broncos in the previous season. It will be the 13th consecutive event to start the season and the tenth time the league has given honor to the Seahawks with the opening game happening in their very on stadium on a primetime slot, the report continued.
The season commences with a game between the Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers, which will be aired at 8:30 PM EST on NBCSports.com, NBC and Westwood One Radio Sports.
In a press release posted on Seahawks.com, it was revealed that the pregrame show will feature performances by Sound Garden and Pharrell Williams and will be led live by "Football Night in America," which is one of the most watched studio shows, with its complete team.
Fans can expect to see Bob Costas, Josh Elliott, Dan Patrick, Tony Dungy, Rodney Harrision, Hines Ward, Peter King and Mike Florio. Singer Ariana Grande will be singing the National Anthem inside the Seattle field.
The concert is free and open to the public on the first come, first served basis; although Seahawks ticket holders have been urged to come early and watch the concert from inside. Gates will open at 2:30 PM for the Seahawks fans who will be attending the game.
The same press release adds that immediately after the event, those with no tickets to the game proper will be asked to exit the stadium and watch the first game at their local pubs. The Green Bay Packers vs Seattle Seahawks kickoff game will not be broadcast from the site.
