E.L. James' famous erotic novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey," will premiere in 2015, but that does not mean that the ladies are going to wait to see the famous apartment until then.
The upscale apartment building in Seattle, named Escala, where the billionaire dominator character, Chrisitan Grey, lives, as written in the book, actually exists. According to Metro UK, this fact is giving the building's realtors a headache as women ages 19-50 mistake it for a hotel.
Ever since the trailer for the movie came out, realtor, Erik Mehr, has had to deal with more than a few crazy phone calls.
"Our silly phone calls have spiked again where people want to rent the room. I don't think they realize that this is a condominium building that residents live in and there is no red room," Mehr reportedly said on CNNMoney,
And the most expensive penthouse at the Escala does not have a red room, no matter what the fans want to think. And there's no helicopter pad, either, Metro UK added.
Mehr also said that "Most of the unit owners are like you may expect -- they're business people or a bit older, so the book wasn't on their radar. For the most part, they would rather downplay where they live."
That's not a liberty many residents can enjoy when it's being "hounded by horny women" as Metro UK puts it.
Of course, there are perks to living in the most upscale Seattle apartments as well. According to ClickOnDetroit.com EL James gave a private book signing to the residents, and her film crew took shots of the building's exterior that are most likely to appear in the movie.
According to the same article, a real estate website said that the price for Seattle condos have risen about 10% since 2010, but the Escala apartments surged at over 75% increase. Only six apartments remain unsold in the building at the moment, and most of them go for around the hefty price of a million.
Who knows, a rich, horny lady just might be interested, but as Metro UK pointed out, chill, ladies, there won't be a naked Jamie Dornan inviting you in the imaginary red room for a night of kinky sex.
No matter how much you want him to.
On the other hand, other famous people live or has lived in the building. San Francisco Giants pitcher, Tim Lincecum, called the Escala his home for a while, but he put his sub-penthouse on the market in 2013, though (maybe he got too tired of the ladies trying to see his neighbor's supposed red room?).
"Fifty Shades of Grey" will be in theatres a day before Valentine's Day 2015.
