Fox News has regularly figured in controversial turn of events, with some of its anchors or contributors making contentious remarks.
Recently, yet another Fox News pundit was noted making eyebrow-raising comments about none other than U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama herself. What's even more intriguing is the fact that the person uttering the headline-making statements is a psychiatrist.
"Regular Fox News contributor, Dr. Keith Ablow, a board-certified psychiatrist, took the metaphorical cake Tuesday when he assured the hosts of Outnumbered they need not heed Michelle Obama's suggestions to pack kale and blueberries in their kids' lunch boxes," Time noted. "No, not because ketchup is produce. Because of the even more ludicrous argument that FLOTUS is out of shape."
"How well could she be eating? She needs to drop a few," Dr. Ablow said, eliciting a surprised "Oooooo" response from the four female Fox hosts who was on the show with him.
"You did not just say that," Harris Faulkner responded, as quoted by The Daily Mail. "Oh, my goodness. Are we on a seven-second delay?'
"I want nutrition. But let's be honest, there's no french fries happening? It's all kale and carrots? I don't buy it. Just saying," he continued.
"Let's be honest, there's no french fries ever, that's all kale and carrots? I don't buy it...She's up at night in the White House kitchen," Dr. Ablow continued.
The panelist even tried to get the hosts to agree and join him in his criticism. However, Sandra Smith, one of the co-hosts, said, "Fitness of the First Lady aside, her presentation aside, I have no comments on that."
"The first lady is 5 foot 11 and is estimated to weight 170 pounds, which means her BMI is 23.7 and is therefore within the normal weight category," the British news source pointed out.
Dr. Ablow then went on to say, "Well, I'm just saying, her husband: I want some nutritional advice from Barack."
Despite the subsequent backlash that the Fox News doctor got in the wake of his surprising comments, he defended his stance on Politico by repeating the gist of what he said during Fox News' "Outnumbered" show.
"I'm not taking food advice from an American who dislikes America, who in many photographs during her tenure as first lady is obviously not fit, and who has a record of saying things that show that she's two-faced. This should be obvious; I don't know why it isn't," Dr. Ablow told the publication on Wednesday.
