Shonda Rhimes will surely be bringing more drama to Grey-Sloan Hospital. Although fans would have to wait until September to watch scenes taking place at everyone's favorite fictional hospital, the International Business Times said that spoilers have been circulating around the net, as always, and this time, they are about the repercussions of Cristina Yang's (Sandro Oh) exit.
Citing an interview TVLine had with Rhimes, it has been confirmed that Season 11 of "Grey's Anatomy" will focus on the shift of the relationship between Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo (Camilla Luddington).
Rhimes said about the characters' romance in the next season, "Alex and Joe are in an interesting place - though I don't know if I would talk about them in terms of their relationship just yet, just because thats not really the focus at the moment. Cristina (who was a mentor of sorts to Alex) has left him these shares and the seat on the board, and what that means for him is complex. Does he want that? Is that what he's looking for? Did he want the money grab that [private practice] provided him, or does he want to be the guy who has a seat on the board? It's a big deal for him to figure out what he wants."
This simply means that Alex might be clashing with the always feisty Bailey (Chandra Wilson). As Richard (James Pickens Jr.) had promised to Bailey the open seat on the board, of which Wetpaint said that she really does deserve it, Alex's ruthless nature will ensure that Bailey would have to fight it out to get it.
Rhimes told TVGuide, "Bailey is not going to go quietly. Bailey has taken a lot of crap and had a lot of hits, and Bailey is done having a lot of hits. I do feel like she has been very overlooked and underestimated. She may be done with that at this point."
Nonetheless, Rhimes assured fans that despite the drama that Alex, Jo and Bailey would be bringing in the upcoming season, the latest installment of the long-running medical drama will still focus on the lead character, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo).
Rhimes said, "Right now, if you were in the writers' room, you would probably tell me that the theme is ‘Meredith.' Because all I keep saying is, ‘The show is just about Meredith Grey! It's really a Meredith-centric season. She's lost her ‘person,' her [half-]sister has shown up, her husband is chafing to go someplace else..."
The Season 11 of "Grey's Anatomy" will debut on September 25, at 8PM/7PM central.
