In an exclusive report by In Touch, Portia de Rossi, actress and wife of talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, has allegedly secretly checked into rehab early May.
"A source exclusively says in the new issue of In Touch that Portia entered the Passages Malibu rehab facility in early May for a 30-day treatment," the entertainment publication announced. "The source adds that Ellen visited her every weekend to provide support while she was there."
"Portia had previously sought treatment for an eating disorder after hitting 82 pounds in 2000," the news source added.
Is this true? What has "America's most beloved daytime talk show host," as RadarOnline describes her, has to say about this? As of press time, both celebrities' reps have not responded to requests for comments from the media.
According to the Radar, the couple reportedly got into "an ugly fight" prior to the alleged rehab stint.
"Portia hadn't been happy for a while and was drinking and isolating [herself], and Ellen confronted her," an insider allegedly revealed. "Portia lost it and blamed Ellen for driving her to drink because of her controlling ways and said she wasn't in love with her anymore. Ellen was crushed and screamed at Portia to get out."
Woah, sounds like an unpretty encounter, indeed!
"Ellen is domineering and Portia is passive. Ellen always calls the shots, and Portia never complains," the source continued to explain. "She felt like a prisoner in her own home."
"She went from sipping white wine occasionally to drinking at least a bottle or more a day and topping it off with a pill. It got to the point where she was out of it four nights a week," the mole said. "They've had vicious shouting matches - with both of them yelling cruel, soul-crushing put-downs that they both deeply regretted."
In addition, it has also been reported that the pair had tried couples therapy before Portia checked into rehab. They even had "divorce attorneys on speed dial," as noted by RadarOnline. However, it appears that both parties still want to make their relationship work, considering the options they have explored.
"Portia often felt like she'd been cut off from her friends because Ellen wanted her all to herself. Portia felt like she let Ellen turn her into the ultimate Stepford Wife," the insider revealed further. "Her bottom wasn't like the dramatic ones you see on a Lifetime movie. It all progressed slowly, and she finally realized she was powerless and not in control anymore."
However grim things may sound, there still appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel, with both persons committed to saving their marriage.
"They are on their way to repairing their marriage. It won't be easy. Portia will always be battling these demons. But they love each other," the insider concluded.
