Independence Day is so near you can actually smell it. Yes, including the eye-watering retail sales that are likely to flood the buying public come July 4th.
"In terms of deals, Independence Day isn't typically as awesome as Memorial Day, but this holiday is unique: July 4th sales offer a rare opportunity to get discounts on items while they're still in season," MSN Money noted. "You see, retailers have already begun turning their attention to back-to-school preparation, and they're eager to clear out the summer stock. As a result, 4th of July sales are a great time to take advantage of these markdowns."
According to Trae Bodge of RetailMeNot, the best deals "will be on apparel (especially kids items), travel and home repairs," as reported by US News. "Shoppers will see discounts as high as 75 percent off in each category."
Wow. Now, isn't that just the kind of deal that will get you slipping your credit cards off your wallets?
"The sales will dry up until back-to-school season starts in a couple weeks, she adds, and those discounts will be focused more on school-related items than summer ones," the news source added. This means that it's not wise to schedule an out-of-towner this coming weekend, if you want to score essential items on sale.
However, that's not to say that all the good deals are in physical stores. You'll also be able to score steals online, according to BradsDeals.com founder Brad Wilson.
"While online and in-store deals are often the same, Wilson encourages shoppers on the hunt for appliances to go online, because they'll find better deals," US News reported. "He adds that shoppers should read online reviews carefully to help with their buying decision."
Meanwhile, Hukkster co-founder Erica Bell clues in shoppers on the merits of grabbing discounts on summer items ASAP. "The average discount on swimwear jumps to 38 percent in July and 44 percent in August, but [if you] wait too long, you run the risk of your size selling out," she revealed.
So, where should you hunt for such steals?
Right now, Sears has started its sales on lawn and garden items, as well as grills, patio furniture, and outdoor décor. Their deals will run until July 8. Target is also offering discounts (20%) on similar items until July 5.
Meanwhile, Home Depot is dangling a half-price offer on gazebos and patio furniture, as well as a 30% off deal on major appliances.
If you're looking to score major appliances, go to Lowe's to get 10-30% off household necessities priced at $399 and above.
You'll also get great discounts on many summer items on Amazon right now. If you're eyeing jewelry and clothing, Bloomingdale's might have the right deals for you with this 20-65% off deals on such items.
Macy's is marking down furniture and mattresses and promising "some of the lowest prices of the season."
