"Transformers 4: Age of Ultron" has come and blown away the competition with its box office revenues, with Forbes reporting that the Michael Bay directed flick had nabbed $100 million over the weekend in America.
Aside from this, the film also has a number of "Easter eggs" that might blow your mind. Yes, those inside jokes/hidden messages in movies that will only be spotted by eagle-eyed movie buffs. Test your mettle by checking out these five and see whether you've noticed any of them while watching Mark Wahlberg and the autobots save the world.
My Little Pony
Find any "My Little Pony" characters in the movie? If you answered no, either you were not paying close attention to the flick or you just did not know it was Rainbow Dash appearing during that blob-morphing sequence.
"While showing off the elastic property of the "transformium" element that gives the robots their shape-shifting ability (yes, it's really called transformium), a goofy lab tech (James Bachman) turns the blob into a series of different objects, including various weapons and, briefly, the My Little Pony character Rainbow Dash," Yahoo! Movies noted.
Optimus Prime - Original Version
In the 80s cartoon series, Optimus has this flat-fronted, "cab-over" Freightliner design. However, this look was revamped by Bay, much to the chagrin of fans. In "Transformers 4," the director seemed to poke fun at critics by showing Prime in his "original" form when he was still a rusty heap. Of course, he eventually turned into a "streamlined Daimler tractor" once he's buffed and revived.
A Phone Number You Can Actually Call
In this fourth sequel there's a billboard that says "Remember Chicago" and has a phone number (855-363-8392) to go with it. Try calling that hotline and you'll find that it actually works.
Shooting Star
"Early on, while we're down on the farm with Mark Wahlberg, there's a picturesque wide shot of the darkening sky," Yahoo! Movie noted. "Suddenly, in the upper right quadrant there's a shooting star straight out of the Steven Spielberg playbook." If you knew Spielberg is the executive producer of the Transformers franchise, this hat tip to the award-winning director and producer should not be surprising.
Guy in Elevator
Who's that heroic, "butt-kicking dude" in the elevator? He's actually China's first Olympic gold medalist boxer, Zou Shiming. We're guessing they put him in there to win over audiences (and pockets) in China.
