The latest follow-up to the "Mass Effect" franchise has gotten video game players at the edge of their seats.
Canadian company BioWare has revealed the first footage of "Mass Effect" during Electronic Art's press conference in this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
IGN said that the debut of the trailer also showcased a new hero character that fans of the video game franchise would love. The new hero character, along with its existing character lineup, can now explore unfamiliar areas, of which concept art for the new places were also shown as well. The video game developers fell short of saying what race the male hero belongs to, as the character is in a full body suit that covers his entire face. However, IGN postulates that the new male hero is actually human given his N7-branded armor.
Apart from the seemingly human male hero, Eurogamer.net said that a krogan warrior was also shown in the sneak peek. The video gaming blog also said that judging from the various large, alien environments shown in the sneak peek, the new "Mass Effect" title would again support vehicular exploration. Video game players might be using a Galaxy Map to traverse through space. The Map is also equipped with its classic music, and that the solar systems are reportedly now laid out in a more fluid way
During its EA press conference diary, executive producer Casey Hudson said, "We start by asking fans what they want. (At the top of that list was) to go somewhere new, and to move forward, (so BioWare Montreal's Mass Effect sequel will take players to) a whole new region of space."
IGN said that BioWare has already explained that the latest "Mass Effect" sequel, most likely, will not have anything to do with Lieutenant Commander Shepard, who is the human protagonist of the earlier predecessors of the game.
Apart from "Mass Effect 4," EA also debuted several games that appeared to be an attempt to please several types of video game players, Financial Post said. At its press conference in E3, it also debuted "Star Wars Battlefront 3," "Dragon Age: Inquisition," and a new mystery game from BioWare Edmonton. "The Sims 4," UFC and NHL 15 were also the topics of focus at the press conference. The show ended with information about EA's sports games, Mirror's "Edge 2" and the new Battlefield game.
