It's been 20 years since we've seen "Dumb and Dumber" and we've yet to see the hit comedy flick's sequel. However, this unfortunate state of affairs may soon change, especially with the Farrelly Brothers' recent announcement via a tweet:
"Finally! Dumb and Dumber To trailer will debut Tuesday, June 10th on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon! Don't miss it!"
This declaration makes it official: Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne are definitely back!
"After that quiet Tweet (which was further confirmed by Peter Farelly's official Reddit account), confirmation began springing up that not only is the trailer set for its debut on June 10th, but that two special presenters are going to be on site to break the wind.... er, news, on this one," Cinema Blend noted. "Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels will be two of the guests on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon next Tuesday night ready to reveal just what they've been up to all of these years."
In the weeks running up to the June 10 trailer launch, teaser posters of the much-awaited movie have been popping up every now and then, reminding fans that the boys' adventure is definitely about to roll on the big screen once more. Right now, fans are likely wondering what the "Dumb and Dumber To" trailer will show. Will they see an aging Lloyd and Harry? Will that sheepdog van make another appearance? Will they act more grown up and a bit more serious or darker?
"At the end of the last movie, they were exactly the same as they were at the beginning. There had been zero growth. And now they're still doing stupid fucking shit," co-director Peter Farrelly told Empire. "We didn't want to make Dumb And Dumber Lite. The first one's a high bar to beat, so whenever we came up with really dumb jokes that didn't fit whatever movie we were working on, I just put them into the Dumb And Dumber file."
Now that should make the trailer debut on June 10 all the more exciting!
It's only fitting that "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" has been made the platform for the trailer launch, as it was on this same show that Jeff Daniels first let the cat out of the bag about the "Dumb and Dumber" sequel, Cinema Blend pointed out.
"Dumb and Dumber To" will be bumbling its way across movie theaters starting November 14 this year.
