Nearly a week ago, a clip of One Direction members Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson puffing on what appears to be marijuana joints went viral and caused an uproar among Directioners, their parents, and other entertainment pundits. However, the group has since stayed mum about the "scandal," except perhaps for reports that fellow band mate Harry Styles thought the stunt was "stupid and reckless," and pressed on with their concert series. Until now.

Liam Payne, one fifth of British pop collective One Direction, has come forth to issue an apology about the incident, albeit via social media. He took to Twitter to express his sentiments, despite the fact that he was not among those implicated in the "joint" video.

"I love my boys and maybe things have gone a little sideways I apologise for that. We are only in our 20's we all do stupid things at this age," his first tweet regarding the incident read.

"We all have a lot of growing up to do in an extreme circumstance I'm not making excuse but it's fact we are gunna fall short somewhere," his second post continued.

"Hopefully we stand the test of time an get it right in the end I don't take this for granted and im extremely grateful to be here doing this."

"Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us through this just know that we love you guys for it and it means the world," his fourth tweet revealed.

His next tweet sang the praises of a fast food chain known for its "original recipe" for fried chicken.

We wonder when Zayn and Louis will actually step forward and make their move regarding their indiscretion, which, according to The Daily Mail, could get both singers "banned from the United States by immigration authorities."
