Nokia announced on Wednesday the launch of its Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 device, claiming its PureMotion HD+ display in combination with the 4.5-inch LCD screen is the best ever touch screen to grace a phone.
The screen, which measures in at 1280x768 pixels, boasts sculpted 2.5D glass, proximity sensor, sunlight readability enhancements, 15:9 aspect ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass and super sensitive touch.
The device utilizes a Snapdragon S4 processor, which Nokia describes as a highly integrated, mobile-optimized system-on-a-chip and offers significantly increased battery life. It runs on the Windows Phone 8 operating system, can be used as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices, and has supreme navigation capabilities as well as top-notch music and audio support.
It uses PureView picture and video technology and boasts optical image stabilization and a Carl Zeiss lens. The camera resolution comes in at 3664x2448 pixels and has 4x digital zoom. The 8.7 megapixel camera features include touch focus, landscape orientation, geo-tagging and still image editing capabilities. In terms of video camera resolution, the device has 1920x1080 pixels and 4x video camera zoom. It can be utilized in a number of light environments, including cloudy, fluorescent, Tungsten and daylight. It has YouTube browsing and video streaming capabilities as well as video recorder, video call, video sharing and video player features.
In related news, Microsoft is expected to launch its new mobile operating system, Windows Phone 8 on October 29th. In addition to Nokia, Windows Phone 8 is expected to be supported by HTC and Samsung. Microsoft also says it will release Windows 8, the desktop and tablet version of the operating system, on October 25th.
