Hispanic actor and former Univisión network collaborator Adonis Losada was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a Miami court, after being found guilty in a case of child pornography which involved 66 charges.
A Palm Beach jury listened to the words of the actor who used to play the character of "Doña Concha" on the show Sábado Gigante, who asked the jury not to be judged; however, after deliberating, Losada was found guilty by Judge Karen Miller of four charges of possession and transmission of child pornography, and was absolved of 62 other charges, ending up with a sentence of 10 years in prison.
According to The Sun Sentinel, Judge Miller dismissed 62 charges against Losada, giving him a limited sentence after the actor admitted to owning and transmitting the pornography, without considering how much material he possessed, causing the disappointment of state prosecutor Gregory Schiller, who demanded a minimum sentence of 20 years of prison for the Hispanic actor.
Schiller said he respects the Judge's ruling, but he expressed his disappointment at the fact that the quantity of the material possessed by Losada was not taken into account.
Adonis Losada was found guilty of four charges of distributing child pornography on the Internet, according to The Sun Sentinel. 49-year-old Losada was found guilty after an intense seven day trial in which the actor refused to get a lawyer. The comedian assumed his own defense in a final allegation with religious motifs translated to English by an interpreter, and was not able to convince Judge Miller.
Adonis Losada, who is remembered for making the audience of Sábado Gigante laugh wit his grey wig and grandmother glasses to play "Doña Concha" in the popular show, was arrested in 2009 after chatting with an undercover police officer, with whom he shared pictures of a minor having sexual relations with adults, according to Los Angeles Times.
