After weeks and weeks of eliminations, we're now down to the top 3. Who are still in the competition after the flurry of voting and singing ended?
According to American Idol Net, the site's readers put Jessica Meuse in last place after seeing her performance Wednesday night this week. Was their prediction right? We'll know for sure in a bit.
A little recap:
On performance night, Caleb Johnson performed Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name," "Travelin' Band" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, and "Maybe I'm Amazed" by Paul McCartney.
Jessica went with former "A.I." champ Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone," Pink's "So What," and Lady Gaga's "You and I."
Jena Irene did "Heartbreaker" by Pat Benatar, Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance," and Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love."
Meanwhile, Alex Preston did Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours," Alex Clare's "Too Close," and Coldplay's "Yellow."
The elimination night started with a flashback to when last year's Top 3 visited their hometowns and campaigned for votes. Then, the Top 4 were shown talking over dinner about their performances Wednesday night, which some viewers find contrived, according to American Idol Net.
The announcements of the Top 3 contenders for this year's "American Idol" got delayed further with a beignet-throwing phase, which ended with J.Lo eating one even with her lipstick.
Finally, host Ryan Seacrest got around to announcing the first person in the Top 3, which turned out to be Jena Irene -- which is not very surprising considering her "strong" performances in the show.
After a commercial break and a video clip, Ryan called out Caleb as the next contestant to be safe and lucky enough to go back to his hometown to spur up votes.
Finally, at the end of the show, Ryan announced that Alex was also safe and that Jessica had to go home -- a result that is consistent with American Idol Net's informal poll.
What do you think about the remaining Top 3 "A.I." finalists?
