After Angelique Boyer announced last March the end of her relationship with producer José Alberto Castro, the actress' parents expressed their delight for the news.

In an interview with Mexican magazine TV Notas, the father of the 28-year-old actress, Patrick Boyer, said that he and his wife, Sylvie Rousseau, are calmer and happier with the decision their daughter made to separate from Castro, a 53-year-old Televisa producer, as old as Don Patrick Boyer.

"Of course. I consider that Angelique, at her age, can aspire to something better than that guy; my girl retook the values we gave her during her education, and yes, we're very happy we recovered her," the father said.

Despite the rumors of abuse that Castro had inflicted upon Angelique, the actress assured that the relationship was stable and acknowledged that José Alberto is the man that cared for her the most in her life, thankful for the support and respect that friends, family and the media have shown the relationship.

"To my friends and the media: Throughout my career, I have avoided replying to publications on my personal life; however, I'm sad and hurt by the series of difamations against José Alberto Castro and my relationship with him, which were published today. José Alberto only took care of my like no other man in my life has, never abused me physically nor verbally, and showed me what a true loving relationship, full of respect and integrity, is like. My friends and the media know that this was always true, the rest is not only difamation against him, but against me and it hurts me and the memories of my most important relationship. I thank once more those who have respected my and José Alberto's privacy. Thank you," wrote Boyer in a document published through her Twitter account on March 18.
