The Masters 2014 Tournament is set to be held from April 10 to 13, 2014 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. It will be the 78th edition of the tournament as well as the first of four major golf championships for the year.
The Augusta National Golf Club is a fitting venue for the Masters 2014, being one of, if not the most, famous golf course in the world. The course is the only one to host a major golf championship each year. Fans are excited to see their favorite players go through popular holes such as Tea Olive in Hole 1, the Flowering Crab Apple at Hole 4, the 510-yard Azalea in Hole 13 and the 530-yard Fire Thorn in Hole 15. Players and fans will also notice the loss of a historic landmark, the Eisenhower Tree, which was damaged by an ice storm and removed, according to The Augusta Chronicle.
The 2014 Masters also features several young golfers, at most 26 years old only, with 42 professional wins and two major titles combined. Rory McIlroy, 24 years old, is the most popular and successful with 11 wins and two major titles. Tiger Woods will sit out the tournament this year due to back surgery. Patrick Reed, a 23-year-old from San Antonio is also set to make a mark at the Masters. Spanish Sergio Garcia will also be seen at the tournament, whose best finish was tying at fourth place in 2004. Angel Cabrera is also among the crowd favorites, with vast Masters experience, according to Bleacher Report.
In a report by The Telegraph, Rory McIlroy has very high expectations in Augusta and shared that he cannot imagine ending his career without a green jacket. It will be his sixth attempt to win the Masters. He said, "So I'd be disappointed if, at the end of my playing days, I wasn't able to go up and have breakfast in the Champions' Locker Room."
