On April 1, 2014, Rockets center Dwight Howard poked fun at Lebron James' frequently talked about receding hairline.
Howard posted a meme on Instagram featuring a photo of James during an interview with a full head of hair, with edits made at the front portion where the superstar small forward always covers with a headband during games. Dwight added the caption "April Fools!!!" in bold white letters at the bottom of the picture, according to Bleacher Report.
For many years, fans have noticed how the Miami Heat star's headband seemed to gradually move further back. It has also become another feature to compare with Michael Jordan, who also started in the NBA with hair and decided to go bald until the end of his career. Dwight posted, "I'm losing my hairline. But I thought this was funny. @kingjames." as reported by Fox Sports.
Dwight Howard and Lebron James have been friends through the years. Both also appeared together in a McDonald's commercial with Celtics superstar Larry Bird. Miami Heat and NBA fans, every now and then, make memes and talk about Lebron's diminishing hair.
Comically, social media has made it more convenient for celebrities to make fun of each other any day of the year. NBA players traditionally come up with unique and funny ideas on April Fool's Day, usually victimizing fellow teammates.
According to Complex, King James has yet to reply to Howard's post, but might retaliate in the spirit of April Fool's Day. He, however, came up with a lame joke on April 1 by tweeting, "I will be coming out with my mixtape April 16th. Feature on it Jay-Z, Drake, Ross, Meek, Juicy J, Kendrick, Snoop, and many more. 'King Me,'" he posted via his @KingJames account on Twitter.
Many social media fans didn't quite understand how releasing a mixtape would constitute a good joke. The worse part was that it was identical to the April Fool's joke made by fellow NBA player DeMarcus Cousins. Nevertheless, James emphasized his tweet with, "April fools! HAHAHA".
