An 86-year-old man took his life after shooting his grandson and his grandson's girlfriend in Staten Island, New York, local authorities reported.
The events took place last Friday, March 28, when Heriberto Pagan, an 86-year-old man showed up at the house of his grandson, Michael Feliciano, to talk to him and his girlfriend.
Feliciano, who managed to survive a shot to the head, told The Daily News that his girlfriend, Claritle Huerta, dialed his cellphone to tell him and this grandfather wanted to talk to him, and he went home.
The 47-year-old man told the newspaper that when he opened the door to his house, his grandfather shot him in the head. The old man also shot Huerta, who died minutes before rescue teams arrived at the house.
According to information published by CBS, after shooting his grandson, Heriberto Pagan got on his car and drove some blocks before turning the gun against himself.
The police reported that Pagan's body was found in his card with a bullet wound on his head, and the man was taken to a nearby hospital but died the next day.
According to CBS, Feliciano, Huerta and their 4-month-old child lived in a Staten Island house owned by Feliciano's sick mother, who had to be taken elsewhere.
According to the survivor, his grandfather wanted him and his family to leave his mother's house, a reason for which they had already fought many times in the past.
