It hasn't even been a year since Rihanna became a music icon during the ceremony of the American Music Awards, and now the world of fashion has decided to honor Rihanna for her remarkable fashion taste.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced on Monday, March 24 that the 26-year-old pop star has been chosen to receive the prestigious Icon award from the council during a special ceremony which will take place on June 2, in New York.
According to The Hollywood Reported, the popular singer had already received a similar award last year, except for music, when she was honored as a music icon during the ceremony of the American Music Awards.
Now, a year later, the CFDA will give her a new away for her "impact in the industry" of fashion around the world.
"We're proud to give Rihanna the Fashion Icon award for her impact in the industry, and for being the most interesting fashion ambassador in recent times," said Steve Kolb, executive director of the CFDA in a press release quoted by USA Today.
The council tweeted a picture of the singer to confirm the news.
