The MacBook Pro with Retina Display has received positive reviews from critics, and fans agreed until some began to experience problems with their device's battery life.
The battery life has also been pointed to Apple's newest operating system (OS) Mountain Lion.
The Mountain Lion OS was released in late July and approximately a month later an update has been issued for users. The update (10.8.1) will help with problems with Migration Assistant, improve compatibility when connecting to Microsoft Exchange's server in Mail, fix audio problems in Thunderbolt, iMessages, and Safari launch issues.
What wasn't noted was battery life.
Battery life for Retina users using the former OS Lion were able to have a battery life of up to eight hours without charging, but once Mountain Lion was installed, that number dropped to near five hours.
Sites such as MacObservers and ArsTechnica stated there seems to be no major update in battery life following a series of test despite expectations that it would.
Meanwhile, 9to5Mac is already reporting a second update (10.8.2) for Mountain Lion is currently underway. The focus areas that might be targeted for the new update are messages, FaceBook, Game Center, Safari, and Reminders.
Again, no mention of battery life improvements.
No release date has been set for the second update, but if the first update was released about a month after Mountain Lion's release in July, one would speculate a late September debut.
