Angelina Jolie is known to put her efforts in the many things that she does: an actress, a philanthropist, a mother and a loving patner to Brad Pitt. Her latest endeavor, on the other hand, is something completely different -- this time, she takes the scenes behind the camera instead.

In a report by the Los Angeles Times, her second film as a director, "Unbroken," follows the story of 1936 Olympian, Louis Zamperini, who survived 47 days on a raft after being shot down during World War II, only to be captured by the Japanese and held as a prisoner of war for two years.

A three-minute preview debuted fittingly during the Sochi Olympics last Sunday, with Zamperini recalling how he used to get into trouble with the cops as a young boy.

Narrated by Tom Brokaw and starring Jack O'Connell (best known for his role in British TV Series, 'Skins') as Zamperini, "Unbroken" explores a different sort of heroism in a story based on the bestselling biography by "Seabiscuit" author, Laura Hillenbrand. The screenplay was written by William Nicholson, Richard LaGravenese, Joel Coen, and Ethan Coen.

In a voiceover from the clip, the narrator proclaims that Zamperini was a driven individual, with "the will to push through any obstacle, the drive never to give in to defeat."

In the preview clip that debuted during the Sochi Olympics, it was shown that the film blends footage with actual interviews of Zamperini, who is now 97 years old. The former athlete said in the clip, "Don't give up, don't give in. There's always an answer to everything."

According to SMH.com.au, the film was shot in Australia, with locations in Tamworth, Canberra, Cackatoo Island in Sydney, and the Roadshow studios complex on the Gold Coast.

"Unbroken" will be shown in theaters on Christmas day.
