Looks like September is going to be a huge month in the tech industry. Not only is Apple expected to unveil the iPhone 5 on September 12, Nokia is supposed to show off its new Windows 8 phones on September 5. Now, add Motorola to the list of companies eager to show off new products before this fall. Motorola and Verizon are holding a press conference on September 5 as well, calling it the "day's main event."
While there is no official confirmation, Motorola and Verizon are expected to reveal what has been known up until now as the Droid RAZR HD.
Except it won't be called that, if leaked specs from Engadget are accurate.
Instead, the phone will be called the Motorola Droid RAZR M 4G LTE. The name might not be as catch as "HD," but there's a good reason for that.
The leaked specs show that the new Motorola Droid RAZR will have a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen running a 960X540 resolution. With Gorilla Glass 2 protection, the display will definitely be an eye-pleaser, but it won't be the 720p HD display that the rumor mill had pegged to the device.
The smartphone will also feature a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed, and 8GB storage. The Droid RAZR M 4G LTE will also feature an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and an impressive 3-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone will also have NFC and Wi-Fi capabilities, Bluetooth, and GPS among other standard Android smartphone features.
There are still no details on the battery, pricing, or release date of the phone, although they will certainly be revealed at the September 5 press conference.
