A24 has released the new trailer for "Under the Skin," showing off evocative images of the film's star Scarlet Johannson.
The new sci-fi film tells the story of an alien seductress who preys upon hitchhikers in Scotland.
The new film, directed by Jonathan Glazer ("Sexy Beast"), premiered at the Venice, Toronto and Telluride Film Festivals where it scored mixed reviews and became one of the most divisive films of the festival circuit.
The film currently has an 89 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes. William Gross from Film.com gave the film a great review and stated, "A deliberately oblique work that prizes textures above answers."
Eric Kohn from Indie Wire also gave the film a positive review and wrote, "Glazer certainly has managed to make one of the most outlandish portraits of alienation in recent memory. 'Under the Skin,' no matter its faults, certainly will get under yours."
Meanwhile, Todd McCarthy of the Hollywood Reporter disliked the movie and wrote, "Viewers willing to embrace a purely visual experience without dramatic, emotional or psychological substance will comprise an ardent cheering section, but the film provides too little for even relatively adventurous specialized audiences to latch onto ..."
"Under the Skin" was produced by Nick Wechsler and James Wilson and was adapted by Walter Campbell and Glazer from the Michael Faber novel, "Skin." A24 acquired the rights to the movie in September and will launch "Under the Skin" in limited release on April 4, and then expand.
