The new poster to "Transcendence" has been released.

Warner Bros. has released the first poster for Wally Pfister's directorial debut. The poster shows Johnny Depp in silhouette connected to wires.

The new film tells the story of Dr. Will Caster, a foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, who is working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.

The film also stars Rebecca Hall ("The Prestige," "Closed Circuit"), Kate Mara ("House of Cards"), Morgan Freeman ("Batman Begins," "Million Dollar Baby," "Invictus"), Paul Bettany ("Angels and Demons"), Cillian Murphy ("Inception," "Batman Begins") and was written by Jack Paglen ("Prometheus 2").

Pfister served as cinematographer on all of Christopher Nolan's films except "Following." He garnered Academy Award nominations for his work on "Batman Begins," "The Prestige," "The Dark Knight" and won for his work on "Inception." The cinematographer also worked on "Moneyball," "The Dark Knight Rises," "Insomnia," "Memento," "The Italian Job," and "Rustin."

Depp was last seen in "The Lone Ranger," "The Rum Diary," "Rango," and "Dark Shadows." He is slated to star in "Into the Woods," "London Fields," "Alice in Wonderland 2," and "Pirates of the Caribban: Dead Men Tell No Tales."

The new film will be released by Warner Bros. on April 18, 2014.
