The former Secretary of State of the US, Hillary Clinton, and New York's mayor, Bill de Blasio, joined forces to launch a public service campaign that seeks to promote early learning in children of the Latino community.
According to EFE, the new campaign, promoted by the Clinton Foundation, seeks to motivate Latino parents to read, sing and talk to their children for at least 15 minutes a day to promote language skills.
Part of the "Too Small to Fail" initiative, launched last year by the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, the new campaign "Small and Valuable" will be broadcast to the Latino community through Univisión, and is expected to have a positive impact in Latino families in New York and other states.
In a press conference held on Tuesday, Hillary Clinton said that the campaign has the objective of supporting Latino children in the US since they have less opportunities to access preschool and maternity services due to the circumstances in which they live.
During the campaign's presentation, Hillary Clinton spoke about the importance of developing early skills in Latino children, especially regarding the so-called "learning gap" that affects thousands of Latino children in the US.
"The reason we're here is because every children, every child in our nation, deserves a fair chance to reaching their God-given potential," said Clinton during her brief participation in the inaugural event last Feb. 4, according to El Economista.
Clinton and Mayor de Blasio said that the media, particularly Univisión Inc., will contribute to the Clinton Foundation's initiative with panels of expert researchers and commentators in its shows.
