What stunt has Lady Gaga not pulled off? What is there that remains to be accomplished for a pop superstar like the "Born This Way" singer?
The daring star has already done it all, from wearing a meat dress to doing her turn on the red carpet inside a gigantic egg carried by men in the buff. She has notched multiple hits and received awards aplenty. She has gained a huge fanbase whom she names "Little Monsters" and also received the distinction of being among the most-followed celebrities on Twitter. She has toured around the world and performed at venues filled to the rafters with adoring fans.
So when billionaire entrepreneur Richarrd Branson announced the launching of his Virgin Galactic spaceships, Lady Gaga wasted no time and made a quick beeline for the said once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Aside from being one of the first celebrities to log space time, she will be the first to perform live outside Earth, as well.
According to the Mirror, she shelled out $250,000 for her seat. Plus, she'll be auctioning the second space seat she booked for charity.
"I'm auctioning off my second seat [on a Virgin Galactic flight] to raise money for the Born This Way Foundation. I want to make a moment that is about much more than me," the 27-year-old singer-songwriter qualified.
"I honestly can't wait [to perform in space]. I can't wait to design the performance," she enthused in an interview. "Performing in space is such an honor. I want to challenge myself to come up with something that will not only bring everyone together but will also have a message of love that blasts into the beyond."
Although Gaga will only be singing one song, she still needs to "do a month of vocal training because of the atmosphere," an insider told Us Weekly.
That's not all. The source also said that she "has taken out a ridiculous life insurance policy."
Better be safe than sorry, so they say!
