The trailer to Robert Pattinson's latest film "The Rover" has been relased.

The new film shows images similar to those of "Mad Max" and "The Road." The film, set in a post-apocalyptic setting, tells the story a loner who tracks the gang who stole his car from a desolate town in the Australian outback with the forced assistance of a wounded man left behind in the wake of the theft.

The movie marks the first film for Pattinson since 2012. He was last seen In "Cosmopolis," "Bel Ami," and "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2." He has also been seen in "Water for Elephants," "Remember Me," and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." The actor recently completed work on David Cronenberg's "Maps to the Stars" with Julianne Moore and "Queen of the Desert" with James Franco and Nicole Kidman.

The movie also marks the first film by David Michod since his critically acclaimed 2010 thriller "Animal Kingdom." The director has also helmed the short films "Crossbow," "Netherland Dwraf," and "Ezra White, LL.B"

"The Rover" will also star Guy Pearce ("Animal Kingdom," "iron Man 3," "The Road") Scoot McNairy ("12 Years a Slave," "Argo," "Killing them Softly"), and Nash Edgerton ("Zero Dark Thirty"). The movie was written by Michod from a story by actor Joel Edgerton. The film was produced by Liz Watts, David Linde, and Michod, last June and was financed by Screen Australia.

The movie is set to be released by distributor A24 who acquired U.S. rights to the title.
