Ooh la la! Look at what Empire magazine is tempting us with!
The glossy publication is ramping up pre-release buzz for the upcoming Marvel blockbuster extravaganza by featuring not one but 25 different covers, each featuring a different character. The most eyebrow-raising and revealing of them all features 'American Hustle' star Jennifer Lawrence.
Not only is J-Law an immensely talented actress of the award-winning kind, she also happens to have one of Hollywood's most enviably feminine and fit figures. As such, casting her as mysterious shapeshifter Mystique for the latest series of 'X-Men' films is a masterstroke.
The beautiful Oscar awardee will be back on big screens on May 23 with 'X-Men: Days of Future Past', which is the second installment of the Marvel movie franchise. In playing the villainous blue-skinned mutant, she portrays the kind of role her fans are not used to seeing her in. For this movie, instead of being the heroine that audiences root for, she is one of the minions of Professor X's mortal enemy, Magneto.
This role also proves how far Jen is willing to go in order to portray her part to the best of her abilities. She endured hours of tedious make up time to transform into Mystique. The Daily Mail revealed that it took "seven hours and six women" to paint, airbrush, and paste the actress into her barely-there costume.
"When I was on like my seventh hour, I was like, 'Why don't you just dip me in a bathtub of blue?" the 23-year-old star quipped in a behind-the-scenes clip taken in 2011.
"But no, it's all airbrushed. They place the scales first with glue. Then they do three layers of airbrush blue and then five layers of splattering of all different colours...I know that everybody feels sorry for me, but we have so much fun. It's like a sleepover except I'm naked and being painted," she added with characteristic candor.
And that's not including the fitness regime she had to go through in order to look fantastic for the part.
Her patience and hard work paid off - the cover reveals Jennifer's shapely and toned body in all her cerulean splendor. Does this image leave you speechless or what?
