Disney has revealed a new trailer to the upcoming "Maleficent."
The new trailer, which premiered during the Grammy awards, features a new rendition of the the classic 1959 song "Once Upon Time" from the original movie "Sleeping Beauty." Lana del Rey interprets the song giving it an eerie and dark tone. The song will appear at the end of the credits of the film.
The song marks the second time Del Rey has collaborated on a film. Last year, she wrote "Young and Beautiful" for "The Great Gatsby" and received a number of accolades.
"Maleficent" tells the story of Maleficent, a beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, who rises to be the land's fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal, an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, she faces an epic battle with the invading king's successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom and perhaps to Maleficent's true happiness as well.
The new movie stars Angelina Jolie and marks the actress's first film in four years. Her last appearance was in the 2010 Golden Globe nominee "The Tourist." She later directed the 2011 Golden Globe nominee "In the Land of Blood and Honey," which was met to mixed reviews. Jolie will next direct her second film "Unbroken," which is slated for release this year.
"Maleficent" also stars Elle Fanning, Sharlto Copley, Lesley Manville, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, and Juno Temple. It was directed by Robert Stromberg and produced by Jolie and Joe Roth. Disney will release the movie on May 30, 2014 in 3-D.
