Ellie Goulding has revealed that she wrote a song for the upcoming "Divergent" film.

The British songwriter told MTV that she had contributed to the soundtrack of the film. She said, "I wrote a song for 'Divergent,' called 'Beating Heart,' and it's being used for the soundtrack."

Goulding also added that she recorded instrumental tracks with orchestral accompaniment and that the music she made for the movie will surprise her fans. She said, "I was recording with an orchestra for 'Divergent,' and my voice is kind of woven into the instrumental bits of the soundtrack. So, like, I basically got to go into the studio, and just be put in front of the microphone for a few hours and sing whatever I wanted to sing. Not even words, noises and sounds, too. I listened to a lot of Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard, that kind of stuff."

The new comes as no surprise as Goudling's song "Dead in the Water" was featured in the teaser trailer to the film. Additionally, Neil Burger had hinted in an interview with MTV that Goulding would do some music for the movie.

"Divergent" is slated to be released on March 21, 2014. The film, which stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, and Kate Winslet, tells the story of Beatrice Prior, a teenager with a special mind, who finds her life threatened when an authoritarian leader seeks to exterminate her kind in her effort to seize control of their divided society. Summit Entertainment is slated to distribute.
