U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama's recent statements revealed she's a straightforward and frank person, if anything.
As she turns 50 in a couple of days, topics on dealing with aging have made their way to her table. However, instead of artfully skirting these, she took the subject matter head on and shared her own thoughts about plastic surgery and Botox, People reported.
"Women should have the freedom to do whatever they need to do to feel good about themselves," she told the magazine in an exclusive interview. "Right now, I don't imagine that I would go that route, but I've also learned to never say never."
It appears that the First Lady still has a long way to go before going down THAT route. Thanks to her healthy and active lifestyle, she appears supremely fit and fabulous. In fact, she admitted that she has never missed a checkup, the Daily Mail noted. That includes colonoscopies, Pap smears, and mammograms.
Aside from that, she also watches what she eats, but not in the way that some Hollywood personalities do.
"I don't obsess about what I eat, but I do make sure that I'm eating vegetables and fruit," Mrs. Obama shared. "And as everyone knows, I do exercise."
Well, not just her - she's also getting the involvement of the rest of America in her bid to uphold fitness and good health. She has focused on battling childhood obesity through her "Let's Move" campaign.
She also talked about her personal exercise regime, saying that she will be adjusting her workout routine as she advances through the years, particulary when she hits 70 and beyond.
"I'm seeing myself shift from weight-bearing stuff - even though that continues to be important - and the heavy cardio and running, to things like yoga that will keep me flexible," President Barack Obama's wife told People.
She also touched on dressing according to her age. Mrs. Obama said that she likes to show off the best parts of her body.
"I have long legs; I have hips. My shape is different from the vast majority of women's," the stylish First Lady pointed out. "As you get older, you start understanding what makes you happy and feel good and going with that rather than following the fashion trends or trying to keep up with your teenage daughter."
Well said, Mrs. Obama!
