Finland has announced its roster for the hockey national team that will compete in the Sochi Olympics this February.
The roster features a plethora of NHL stars. All three goalies selected for the squad are currently playing on top NHL teams. Kari Lehtonen is the main man for the Dallas Stars, Tuukka Rask is the starter for the Boston Bruins while Antti Niemi is the go-to guy for the San Jose Sharks. Of the three, Rask has the most impressive stats with a 93.4 save percentage; Lehtonen has stopped 91.4 percent of the shots he has faced while Niemi has stopped 91.1 percent. Of the three, Lehtonen has faced the most shots with 1,030 in 34 games.
On defense the team has picked such NHL players as Olli Maatta of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Sami Salo of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Kimmo Timonen of the Philadelphia Flyers and Sami Vatanen on the Anaheim Ducks.
The forward corps feature Aleksandr Barkov of the Florida Panthers, Valtteri Filppula of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Mikael Granlund of the Minnesota Wile, Jussi Jokinen on the Pittsburgh Penguins, Olli Jokinen of the Winnipeg Jets, Mikko Koivu of the Minnesota Wild, Tuomo Ruutu of the Carolina Hurricanes and Teemu Selanne of the Anaheim Ducks. Saku Koivu is a noticeable absence from the roster. Koivu was the team captain during the 2010 Olympics.
