The biggest product from Apple this 2014 is its much ballyhooed iPad Pro. According to Yahoo, this tablet would have a twelve-inch screen and is expected to change the tablet landscape again.
In a report on Barrons.com, Evercore analyst Patrick Wang said, "Arriving in fall '14, Apple goes Enterprise with an(sic) 12' iPad. Powered by the A8 chip (perhaps 4C), this expands ARM's reach and once again, transforms the traditional notebook market as we know it."
He added, "Expect a 2-1 hybrid - think iPad + MBA - similar to how most iPads are used in the workplace and in the same spirit of MSFT's Surface."
This expectation though, may be run against the grain of Apple CEO Tim cook, who has been lukewarm to the extent of being dismissive of the MSFT Surface. According to the Business Insider, Cook, during a recent iPad event, said, "Our competition is confused. They're turning tablets unto PCs and PCs into tablets. Who knows what they are going to do next?"
Previously, around October 2012, he added, "It's a fairly compromised, confusing product... I supposed you could design a car that flies and floats but it wouldn't do these things very well."
In another report on the new iPad, this time from Forbes, the iPad Pro would be ditching the retina display in favor of a 4K display. This 4K display would have 4,000 pixels on the longer side as Foxxcon, one of the major suppliers of Apple, already has the 2K iPad Pro prototype. The 4K resolution would not be far behind.
The prediction is that Apple would not be releasing a larger iPad. The additional size would be used to create a "hybrid-style device" that could stand as both a tablet and a notebook. This would make the iPad more attuned to the needs of the business community.
