A self-proclaimed "god", rapper Kanye West is now worth gold in the online world., as a new online currency was named after him -- Coinye West is set to launch next week.

According to the Independent UK, this new internet currency hopes to be as successful as other virtual currencies, for instance, the Bitcoin.

In an article by Digital Trends, the unnamed creators said that their "goal with Coinye West is to make it easier for people to use cryptocurrency. Right now, it's kind of a dark art for people to mine coins. We plan on releasing a front end to the 'mining' programs called CoinyeMiner. It will make things a lot more simple and people will be able to make their own coins."

In an interview from Noisey, the creators said about choosing the rapper as their mascot, "We chose to represent Kanye because he is and always has been a trendsetter, and he's always keeping things unique." Notably, the business is not affiliated with the rapper, but the creators hoped it would win his approval anyway.

When asked if they fear a reaction from the rapper, the creators did acknowledge that "We're really not sure how Kanye is gonna react to this. We hope he loves it, but if he doesn't, he really isn't someone we want to piss off."

As for the rapper co-signing Coinye West, the creators said, "We don't want to pay him off to name check us, but it'd be sick if he does so."

They even added an invitation for the controversial rapper, saying, "we're making an open invitation to Kanye: Get hold of us at coinyewest.com and we'll send you 100,000 COINYE on launch."

Kanye West is still yet to respond to the news about the cryptocurrency to his name. He may not be able to rant for a while about this, though, as NME noted that the rapper promised not to say anything controversial for six months and told his fans to re-listen old interviews to hear "some realness."
