They're young, they're good looking, and they're public property - which means they pretty much are free agents in the romance department at this point in their lives. It's reasonable to say that the young and the restless can't be expected to commit to a long-term relationship with marriage in view as they're still enjoying their youth and the wealth of opportunities (and countless romantic prospects) surrounding them.
So it's not surprising to hear New York Daily News reporting that 20-year-old Ariana Grande and boyfriend Nathan Sykes, who also is the same age as the actress-singer, have split up. Hearing them tying the knot would be more shocking.
However, that's not to say that the young couple's relationship isn't newsworthy. The Wanted singer and the up-and-coming recording star are hot property and are seen as a fantastic match (their coupling is named "Nariana"), given their talents and wholesome image. In fact, both artists have recorded a duet, "Almost Is Never Enough," which will be part of the soundtrack for the movie "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones."
Their romance, which started in August, ended just a few weeks ago, according to Us Weekly. A source told the magazine that both "just weren't into it anymore."
So that means no more making sweet music with each other, Ariana?
Earlier, the "Popular" singer gushed to Access Hollywood that her erstwhile boyfriend is the "sweetest thing." She also told Teen Vogue that her relationship with the English-Irish vocalist is "not as tough as people would think" and that the fact that they have the same music manager makes it easier for them to schedule "little trips as often as we can."
Apparently, it appears that it was as tough as people think.
Ariana hinted about the split during a radio station interview last week. "You're a little behind," she told the host when asked about her boyfriend. "We're really good friends."
